Also. More than once I have had customers sign “thank you” to me. It’s awkward because I’ve spent the whole transaction speaking to them. So, no need to randomly sign at me.

The things customers do when they’ve notice your hearing aid are really strange sometimes. They’ll sign thank you or say “wow you speak really well” (grr). Here’s an idea. Maybe say “thank you have a nice day” and peace out instead of saying or doing weird uncomfortable shit.

people do that to me all the time!

ill have been talking the whole time, circumstances were best and i only asked for a couple repeats, i wont have signed at all, my hair is super fluffy so even though its up you cant really see my hearing aids, and someone will sign thank you or say something like “wow you speak really well”, “you dont look deaf” (my all time favorite *rolls eyes*), or mention some person they know is deaf, or the one time they saw a deaf church and they “sang” in sign language and how it changed their life. and im like WHOA that was weird. how did you even know, and why are you saying and doing these things?!?!
